Why it matters

Anyone can say they're trustworthy. Almost no one can prove it.

Consumers have been burned before, so they've learned to ask one question first: how do I know I can trust you? The Vetted Seal is the answer you can point to — checks you passed, verified by someone other than you, and refreshed every year.

This isn't a badge you buy. It's a standard you meet — a background check, reference calls, a claims review, and a real interview. That's exactly why it carries weight with the people you're trying to reach.

What vetting gives you

Trust you can point to — and clients can find.

The seal does more than sit on your profile. It puts you in front of consumers who are actively looking for someone safe to work with.

B-01

A seal consumers recognize

Display the Vetted Seal on your website, profiles, and social — the same mark consumers are told to look for before they spend.

B-02

Listed where consumers check

Your verified profile appears in our public Vetted directory, where consumers come to confirm who they can trust.

B-03

Sent the referrals

When consumers come to us looking for someone reliable, vetted businesses are who we point them to first.

B-04

Current, not one-and-done

Annual re-vetting tells consumers your standing is live today — not a claim you made years ago.

B-05

Distance from the scammers

Every market has fraud. The seal draws a clean line between you and everyone still hiding behind a claim.

B-06

A standard, not a purchase

You can't buy the seal — you earn it by clearing an independent standard. That's exactly why it means something.

What we verify

Every applicant clears the same ten checks.

Vetting isn't a form and a fee. It's a real background and identity screening — the kind of due diligence a consumer could never run on their own.

  • V-01 Government ID verification
  • V-02 Social Security Number trace
  • V-03 FEIN & Tax ID confirmation
  • V-04 D-U-N-S & full business search
  • V-05 7-year criminal history
  • V-06 Federal criminal & civil records
  • V-07 County criminal & civil records
  • V-08 Education & employment verification
  • V-09 Reference checks
  • V-10 Marketing & claims review

A past mistake isn't automatically a no. Non-financial felonies are reviewed on a case-by-case basis — we look at the whole picture, not a single line on a record.

The process

From application to seal in six clear steps.

No mystery, no runaround. Here's exactly what happens after you decide to get vetted.

01

Apply & authorize

Submit your application and business details, and authorize the background check.

02

Pay your fees

Membership and background-check fees start the process. Not approved? Your membership fee is refunded.

03

Background & records

We run the full identity, business, and records screening on you and your company.

04

References & claims

We check references — especially around any past issues — and verify how you market your services.

05

The interview

An in-depth interview with tough questions about how you actually operate.

06

Approved & sealed

We confirm everything, award your Vetted Seal, and list you. Re-vet each year to keep it current.

Questions

Before you apply.

What exactly do you check?

A 10-point screening: government ID, SSN trace, FEIN and Tax ID, D-U-N-S and full business search, a 7-year criminal history, federal and county criminal and civil records, education and employment verification, reference checks, and a review of how you market your services. Approved applicants also complete an in-depth interview.

Which industries do you vet?

All of them. Consumer Trust Advocacy vets business owners and service providers across every industry — the standard is the same whether you're in home services, finance, wellness, the trades, or online.

I have a non-financial felony — can I still get vetted?

Possibly, yes. Non-financial felonies are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We consider the full context rather than issuing an automatic denial.

What does it cost, and what if I'm denied?

You pay a membership fee plus a one-time background-check fee. If your application isn't approved, your membership fee is refunded.

Do I have to renew?

Yes. Vetting is re-done every year. Annual re-vetting is what lets consumers trust that your standing is current — not a one-time claim.

Where will my profile appear?

In our public Vetted directory — the place consumers come to confirm a business has earned the seal.

Can I display the seal on my own site and social?

Absolutely. Once approved, the Vetted Seal is yours to display on your website, social profiles, email signature, and client-facing materials.

Ready to be the one they trust?

Start your application today. Complete it, authorize your background check, and submit your fees — and let the seal speak for you.
